TIPS for healthy sleeping
The first symptoms (risk of sensitisation and development of asthma) in sensitive people express themselves through about 100 dust mites per gram of dust coming from bedding. This sensitivity limit is already reached one to two months after the first use of the bedding. 500 mites per gram of dust is a major risk for the development of acute asthma. Regular washing is advisable. Pillow and duvet at 95°C, sheets, fitted sheets and blankets at 60°C, mattresses should have an allergen proof cover.

TIP for safe sleeping
“One should bear in mind what we mean by safe bedding in relation to cot death. There is only danger when the baby ends up under the bedding. If a child can’t end up under the bedding it doesn’t really matter what kind of bedding is used.
The risk of a baby ending up under the bedding is reduced to a minimum if the bed is made up short and tight. As long as a baby doesn’t end up with its head under the bedding, he won’t overheat because 80% of warmth is released through the head. Now the child can just continue breathing.”

Did you know that…
* Dust mite allergy is the main cause of asthma in children
* Premature exposure (babies) to dust mite allergens considerably increases the chance of developing asthma at a later stage.
The decisive time span is relatively brief: three to six months after birth
